Over at The Hockey Writers, Alex Stallings has a bit more even-keeled look at the Jackets with five burning questions for next season.

It looks like Teemu Selanne has set a personal deadline of September 16th to decide if he’ll play another season or retire.

The Blue Jackets, Crew, and Clippers have formed “Game On! Columbus” to help promote the city’s professional sports teams. The Dispatch’s Rob Oller has more details.

NHL journeyman Dave Scatchard has retired due to concussion symptoms.

Over at CBJ Blog, he’s looking at the next part of his Case for Columbus.

Did the New Jersey Devils violate the license for some of their in-arena music? Looks like they might be in a bit of trouble.

Over at LTL, we’ve got a reminder that Hockey Beats Down is almost here, and a countdown of the best reasons to join the Jacket Backers upcoming roadtrip to Music City.

The next “Guilty Pleasures” at Puck Daddy is from Matthew Wuest, the mind behind CapGeek.

Aaron Portzline is back from vacation and brings news that the Jackets are going to be announcing the signing of Paul Dainton, who signed a minor league deal with Springfield and finished the season there last year after graduating from UMass. Dainton is expected to be playing for the Jackets at the Traverse City tournament, but after that I would guess he’ll probably be headed to the Chicago Express, given that the team already has Curtis Sanford and Allen York penciled in for Springfield.

Finally, over at DBJ, Gallos has a look at the team’s new defense, and what the numbers say we can expect from them next season.
