Special teams
At 5v5, the Devils have great possession numbers but, like the Blue Jackets, have poor finishing and goaltending. That’s boring. What’s way more interesting is special teams, where the #1 power play will face the #3 penalty kill. On the other hand, could the bad Blue Jackets power play crack the mediocre Devils penalty kill?

Huzzah, we finally won a game! … Alexandre Texier missed Wednesday’s game with injury, and did not practice yesterday, either … Brian Hedger got some quotes from Blue Jackets president Mike Priest. Nothing earth-shattering (i.e. no changes imminent), but at least it serves as some sort of comment from ownership, and an acknowledgement that the recent run was not acceptable.
The Other Bench
The Devils are also having a November to forget. They’re without captain Nico Hischier, and have lost 6 of their last 8 games. They’ve given up at least 4 goals in each of those losses, including a 4-0 loss in Detroit on Wednesday.
