Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It’s about great food and spending time with loved ones. What’s better than that? It’s also an opportunity to take stock of all the things we can be grateful for. To that end, our annual tradition here is to publish what we’re thankful for, both in our lives and with regards to the Blue Jackets.

Feel free to share what you’re thankful for in the comments!

I have to lead with the most important thing: Thank you to all of the loyal readers and commenters of The Cannon. It has been a difficult year as we transitioned from SBNation to Ghost and finally to For Hockey Fans. It was important to me to keep the community together, and you all have stuck with us. That has made all of this worth it.

The leadership team at FHF are rock stars. Steph Driver, Taylor Baird, and John Botte have been hard at work getting this set up and are continuing to plan for future growth. John, in particular, has done amazing work on the tech side to build this site which looks great and functions so well. He’s also extremely patient and responsive for my random tech support requests at odd hours.

Finally, I can’t do this without the great staff of writers. As I’ve dealt with everything else, I never had to worry about the content on the site. They’ve also been consistent moral support. Dale stepped up with some technical assistance during the Ghost launch, and Burkus came through with a wonderful new logo. (Stay tuned tomorrow for a very special piece of new merchandise)

First and foremost, I’m thankful for my family and the joy they bring. I’m thankful that I have things outside of sports to look forward to because my favorite teams are terrible. I’m thankful for this community and the opportunity to write for all of you. It’s not something I take lightly.

There isn’t much to be happy about with the Blue Jackets these days, but I’m thankful for Adam Fantilli. He’s been a bright spot in a season that’s been dark so far. He’s a stud and a franchise center – don’t screw him up, Columbus. I’m also thankful for Johnny Gaudreau. He’ll turn things around and will be a big part of winning games over the next several seasons.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

This year, I am thankful first and foremost for Ladyfriend. There’s been a lot of adjustments to life this year, with me taking a new position at work, and she’s been an incredible rock while I’ve tried to adjust and learn how to balance work/life while not feeling overwhelmed managing my new team. I wouldn’t be where I am without here.

I am also thankful for our dog, who is the purest form of happiness and joy in the world. She’s the best, and I tell her so every day.

I am also thankful for Marvin Harrison Jr. He’s so cool.

Finally, I am thankful for Adam Fantilli. From the minute I saw him play at Michigan last season, I thought myself “that guy is a Blue Jacket” and now he in fact is one. Watching that guy take the ice every night is a true joy, and after so many players have failed to live up to the hype, Fantilli has already proven he belongs. I will never, ever take watching him for granted.
