Cannon Blasts : Woke Up Feeling Dangerous

There’s nothing like waking up feeling dangerous to start off a brand new week.

Why do we feel dangerous? BECAUSE THE COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS CLINCHED LAST WEEK.

They kick off the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the number one team in the league, the Tampa Bay Lightning. The schedule dropped and we are pretty excited. Check it out here and let us know what games you’ll be attending.

We are pretty optimistic about how things will turn out for the Jackets. There are an abundance of reasons to be excited about this series. Pale Dragon discusses some of them in “ The Optimist’s Take: Bring on Tampa!”.

The playoffs have come at the right time for the Jackets as the secondary scoring has FINALLY showed up. Let’s just hope they continue to keep it going during their cup run.

As the season winds down and we enter playoff season, the awards and nominations for the organization are starting to pile up. Will we see more before the end of the year?

On the last Cannon Cast we discussed a lot of stuff from playoffs to the defense. As always, leave us questions in the comments of the Cannon Blasts so we can answer them on the next recording of the podcast.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Nothing is ever easy for Blue Jackets fans. The squad had a chance to clinch on Tuesday, April 2nd against the Boston Bruins. Yet, the team decided to not show up. To add insult to injury, the game was nationally televised. So, the whole nation got to see our blunder.

Luckily, the Jackets stormed MSG on Friday and took down the New York Rangers to clinch their coveted playoff spot.

The 6-2 win against the Ottawa Senators was just the cherry on top of the week.

Cleveland Monsters

The Cleveland Monsters kept their playoff hopes alive by beating the Laval Rocket on Wednesday and Friday night.

On Wednesday, the Monsters shut the Rocket out, 5-0. Alexandre Texier was the hero of the night with two goals. He earned a much deserved call up to the Jackets the next day.

Speaking of two goals, Derek Barach decided to join in on the multi goal scoring in Friday’s win over the Rocket.

Like their parent team, the Cleveland Monsters like to take things down to the wire. They had the chance on Saturday to put a lot of distance between them and the Belleville Senators in the standings. Unfortunately, they fell to the Senators, 3-1, in regulation.

The upcoming week just got a bit harder for the Monsters.

Ohio Hockey News

Justin Vaive and Michael Houser discuss why Cincinnati feels like home to them now.

Sports News Around Ohio

The Columbus Crew took down the New England Revolution for the second time this season.

Cincy Jungle discusses when the right time might be for the Cincinnati Bengals to upgrade their quarterback.

The Cleveland Browns are good now. So, obviously the National Media is obsessed with them. Well…. not in the good way.

Fear the Sword discussed some of the best Channing Frye moments on their podcast. To be honest, the best moment of Frye’s career was the fact he was a Cleveland Cavalier. In my opinion, his bromance with Kevin Love and Richard Jefferson come in at a close second.

The Cincinnati Reds were swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates this weekend. So, that was fun?

The Cleveland Indians are off to one of their best starts under Terry Francona. However, the better story is about Oscar Mercado returning to his hometown to continue working on his skills.
