Goal Recap
A hard fought battle between the Cleveland Monsters and San Jose Barracuda would end in the final two seconds of overtime.
Adam Helewka intercepted a pass intended for Carter Camper and took off down the ice. As he neared the goal, Helewka passed the puck off to Michael Brodzinski who fired it through Matiss Kivlenieks' five-hole.
The Barracuda would win this round.
But Wait! There's More
Quick Thoughts
- The Monsters power play is looking better but they definitely had a few missed chances tonight. The two incredible good looks came from Tyler Motte and Joe Pendenza during the same power play. However, both shots dinged off the crossbar. /
“We let an opportunity slip tonight. Our power play didn't get any goals for us. We only had a couple good looks. We have to work on that.” - John Madden
- Matiss Kivlenieks looked great in his second professional start. He made a few incredible saves to keep the team in the game. Had the Monsters scored in overtime, Kivlenieks would have procured a much-deserved shutout and win. /
“Both have played extremely well for us and given us a chance to win hockey games. That's what you're really looking for is goalies that will go in there and make big saves when they have too.” - John Madden
- The Hannikainen-Camper-Motte line made up half of the Monsters' 28 shots tonight. While you would think they would be considered the first or second line, Madden has decided to look at lines a different way. /
“I don't have a first line, a second line, a third line, a fourth line. However, you play that night. If you step up, you get more ice. If you don't, then you get less ice.”- John Madden
