Hannikainen, Schroeder Recalled

The Columbus Blue Jackets made a few moves today.

They started the day off by recalling Jordan Schroeder (center) from the Cleveland Monsters for the purpose of placing him on waivers. He was in Cleveland on a conditioning loan.

During today’s practice, Lukas Sedlak stepped on a stick and received a high-ankle sprain. He will be on injured reserve for approximately six weeks.

This injury forced the Blue Jackets to recall Markus Hannikainen from the Monsters. As well as, move Zac Dalpe to a position he knows quite well, center.

If the Jackets hadn’t placed Schroeder on waivers, they might have been able to bring him up to fulfill the role of center. We’ll know what’s to come from Schroeder by noon tomorrow.

While in Cleveland, Hannikainen has played the past two games alongside Tyler Motte and Carter Camper. Both are skilled playmakers who try to find ways to make their teammates better players.

Hopefully, Hannikainen will make the most of this chance and expand his role beyond being a “tweener”.
