Game Thread 64: Columbus Blue Jackets at Colorado Avalanche

It’s a quick turnaround for these two, having just played less than a week ago in Columbus. It was all Avs that night, despite the fact that the Jackets played pretty well for the better part of a couple of periods. Late goals, yet again.

James Wisniewski is questionable tonight with a leg injury, which means we’ll see Jack Johnson playing with someone else. Perhaps this will give us a different glimpse at the new acquisition in a more fundamentally sound pairing. What? He’s playing with Aaron Johnson? Scratch that. Offense, it is!

Steve Mason gets the crease tonight, though it should be noted he had the crease on Friday for the last beatdown by the Avs. Colorado is streaking, winners of four straight. The Jackets are also streaking, though in a different direction, having dropped their last three by a combined 14-4 score. Not good times.

Tune in tonight to see if the road is a bit more kind than it has been in the past, and to see if this Jackets crew–now safely (or rudely, if you’re Rick Nash) still in Columbus post-deadline–can rise up, focus, and salvage a little of their dignity.
