Busy Day in Springfield

There were some wholesale movements of players today in Springfield.

This morning, the Blue Jackets reassigned Tomas Kubalik to the AHL club.

Late this afternoon, the Falcons reported that they had released both Brett Motherwell and Trevor Bruess from their PTO agreements. Still stranger, the Falcons announced that both Paul Dainton and Allen York have been recalled. Dainton had been loaned to the Reading Royals of the ECHL, while York has been in the nets for the Chicago Express.

The reason given for both goalie recalls is that both Manny Legace and Mark Dekanich are injured.

The AHL along with the NHL will be holding their annual All-Star weekends this coming weekend. The NHL starts with the player draft on Thursday night. Skills competition will be on Saturday and the game itself will be on Sunday afternoon. The AHL will hold its skills competition on Sunday night with the All-Star game played on Monday night in Atlantic City, NJ. I only make mention of the All-Star events, because sometimes that timing is tied into some player movements.

There might be something more to this, or maybe not. If there is, we’ll have it covered here at The Cannon.
