Wilson On His Way Back To Columbus

Per Aaron Portzline’s Twitter account, the the Jackets are expected to recall Kyle Wilson from Springfield today to take the place of the injured Andrew Murray.

Wilson, who started the season in Columbus and had early goal scoring success on the fourth line (4 goals and 7 assists in 31 games), as well as showing a great deal of reliability in the shootout, returned to Springfield in January to give him additional playing time when the journeyman found his game suffering and losing opportunities for playing time as Andrew Murray and Derek MacKenzie returned to the lineup.

Since returning to Springfield, Wilson has contributed 11 goals and 11 assists in 20 games, and his one on one skills would be a welcome asset for the Jackets as they try to get back into the playoff chase in the West, particularly with the recent struggles in the shootout and penalty shot situations.

The Jackets will practice today in Columbus at 11am before leaving for St. Louis tomorrow.
