William Karlsson Signs Two Year Extension

William Karlsson has signed his extension with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

After tallying 9-11-20 in last season’s campaign, Karlsson was signed today to a two year, $2 million extension. His contract carries a cap hit of $1 million for each year, and he will remain a restricted free agent at the end of it.

Karlsson came to Columbus as part of the trade that saw James Wisniewski shipped out of town. He was brought in along with Rene Bourque for the veteran defenseman.

Karlsson played in 81 games in his debut NHL season.

With Karlsson re-signed, the team has approximately $5,400,000 left with which to re-sign restricted free agent Seth Jones (pending any future buyouts the club may execute this summer). Jones’ agent has said that discussions are ongoing with “nothing to report.”
