Starting during the 2016-17 season, the Columbus Blue Jackets punctuated each victory with a bear hug between goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and team captain Nick Foligno. With Bob’s departure, we wondered if the tradition would continue with Joonas Korpisalo and Elvis Merzlikins. As it turns out, each goalie has decided to kick it up a notch. Korpi started jumping, which became more of a chest bump. Elvis has gone even harder, leaping into Fligs’ arms.
I’m still worried someone is going to get hurt, but damn if it doesn’t look cool.
