Traverse City Game 2: BUF 6, CBJ 3

Sunday afternoon in Traverse City, the Blue Jackets prospects fell to the Buffalo Sabres prospects by a score of 6-3.

The Jackets spotted the Sabres a two goal lead when Riley Boychuk and Gregg Sutch scored about one minute apart, late in the first period.

Columbus came out strongly to start the middle frame when Boone Jenner lit the lamp on an assist from David Savard. A minute and a half later with Buffalo’s Alex Biega in the box for hoooking, Cody Goloubef tallied a power play marker, tying the game at two. Assisting on Goloubef’s goal were Ryan Johansen and David Savard.

Buffalo took the lead to stay with a goal late in the second period, followed by three more in the first 7:33 of the third period.

The lone response to the Buffalo onslaught was Cam Atkinson with assists to Johansen and Savard.

Playing goal was Mathieu Corbeil who made 31 saves on the afternoon.

The Jackets squad will practice today at 12:15. There are no games scheduled in the tournament today.
