Today in the “A”: Falcons Help Community

It was a rough summer here in western Massachusetts. First came the June 1st tornado assault, the first of which passed right in front of the home of the Falcons, the MassMutual Center. Throw in the more recent Tropical Storm, almost hurricane, Irene and finish it up with the week long rains left from Tropical Storm Katia, which have flooded many communities and literally washed away sections of roads.

Sorry for the weather report.

Through it all, the Springfield Falcons have done the right thing for the community. They always do.

Thursday, the team announced that it had donated a total of $13,250 to the Pioneer Valley Red Cross chapter.

From the Falcons website:

“We can’t thank our fans and our partners throughout both the AHL and NHL enough for their support in our efforts to assist all families in need of relief,” said Falcons President and General Manager Bruce Landon. “Starting with the tornado in June, many families throughout the Pioneer Valley have needed assistance and we wanted to lend a helping hand any way possible. We also want to thank our fans and all of our loyal supporters for their donations either through the online auction, or their generous donations they dropped off at our office. Thank you very much.”
