Stefan Matteau receives well deserved contract with Columbus Blue Jackets

On February 19th, 2020, the Columbus Blue Jackets signed Cleveland Monsters forward Stefan Matteau to a two-year, two-way NHL/AHL contract.

Due to all of the call-ups and injuries the Monsters have experienced, Matteau is one of three players who’ve played 50 or more games for Cleveland this season. During those 50 games, Matteau racked up 28 points in the form of 12 goals and 16 assists. Matteau currently leads the Monsters in goals (12) and is second on the team in points (28).

Another place Matteau excels is on special teams. He leads the Monsters with three short handed goals and is tied for second with two power play goals.

Plus, Matteau is an overtime wizard. Every single one of the Monsters’ overtime wins were because of a play he set in motion or due to the fact he delivered the game winning goal.

One of Matteau’s greatest attributes is the fact he can play with anyone. Due to the rash of injuries and call-ups Matteau has experienced a wide range of linemates. His ability to communicate well with others allowed him and many of the Monsters to flourish during the call-up and injury frenzy of the 2019-20 season.
