Shrapnel – 4/19/12

“Game Five Tickets Are Now On Sale.”

After both Vancouver and Pittsburgh staved off elimination last night (thanks in no small part to Cory Schneider continuing to play out of his mind, while the Flyers entire goaltending / defensive corps were just plain awful), we won’t be seeing any first round sweeps this season.

We also saw a fair bit of traffic around the Jackets’ blogosphere (or should it be tumblrverse?), with Rick and Greg at Full Mental Jackets debating the head coaching situation, while Gallos makes a suggestion for supplemental discipline over at DBJ.

Jeff Little also shares his thoughts on the demolition derby at Ten Minute Misconduct, then takes a look at the first round so far.

Over at Grantland, there’s a great story on the “non-traditional” hockey fans down in Florida in advance of tonight’s game four matchup, while the guys at Carry The Flag have their own AHL / NCAA prospect wrapup.

Department of Cool Things: Check out this mock up R.J. Umberger NHL13 cover from CBJ fan Adam Heineman!

Also at FMJ, Rick Gethin has a chat with the new Fox Sports Ohio Girls, one of whom seems like a die hard, and the other two are slowly but surely getting sucked into this game we love.

Last but not least, check out this look at the Torres / Hossa hit by Tapeleg where he makes the excellent point that referees deserve much of the blame, not the linesmen.

Have a great morning!
