Round 2 Game 6 QuickCap: Jackets shut out, season over

The Columbus Blue Jackets faced elimination in game six. Either the team would force a game seven back in Boston, or the Boston Bruins would move on to the Eastern Conference Finals to face the waiting Carolina Hurricanes.

Here’s what happened.

First Period

Boston looked to have taken an early lead, but a goal by Sean Kuraly was overturned for goaltender interference on Joakim Nordstrom.

After 20 minutes, the teams held serve tied at zero.

Second Period

David Krejci broke the tie on a rebound off the crossbar.

Charlie McAvoy tried to decapitate Josh Anderson and only got two minutes because this league is terrible.

Cool.

Third Period

Marcus Johansson and David Backes scored insurance goals, and that was all she wrote as Columbus could not solve Tuukka Rask.

Final

Boston Bruins 3 Columbus Blue Jackets 0

Good season, Jackets. Thanks for the first series win, and all of the memories this season.

This one hurts.

If this is the last we see of Sergei Bobrovsky and Artemi Panarin in our home uniforms, let me be the first to say thank you. Thank you to those two players for all you have given this city and I wish you all the best going forward.
