Goal Recap
Halfway through the first period, Scott Kosmachuk launched a rocket from the point to put the Moose on the board first.
Seven minutes into the third period, Jordan Maletta tied things up after sneaking around the back of the net and burying the puck past Comrie.
Yet again, 60 minutes wasn't enough time to settle this game. Another game, another four-round shootout between the Monsters and Moose.
Markus Hannikainen – Hannikainen went wide left and sped towards the net firing the puck past Comrie - Goal
Kyle Connor -Comrie skated to the right, put on the burners, and launched the puck into the net behind Korpisalo - Goal
Sonny Milano – Milano turned up the heat as he approached the net. He tried to go for the backhanded top-shelf shot but Comrie was there to deny Milano the chance. - No Goal
Scott Kosmachuk - Kosmachuk skated wide left and circled back to try and pop the puck over Korpisalo's left blocker. - No Goal
Oliver Bjorkstrand – In an attempt to psych Comrie out, Bjorkstrand slowed to the pace of a snail and did some fancy stick work before firing the puck. - No Goal
Chase De Leo – De Leo went coast to coast before firing off a shot directly into Korpisalo's pads. - No Goal
Daniel Zaar – Zaar veered to the left then took off for the goal before firing off a shot. - No Goal
Dan DeSalvo – DeSalvo rushed the net before firing the puck through Korpisalo's five hole. - Goal
But Wait! There's More
Quick Thoughts
- Joe Pendenza had a phenomenal game. He was all over the ice breaking up plays and forcing turnovers. I'd like to see this Pendenza more often.
- The Monsters could have used some of the fire Justin Scott and Nick Moutrey typically bring to the game on a nightly basis.
- The third period was the shining point for the Monsters. Everything they did was methodical.
- The Monsters looked strong on the five-minute major penalty kill. On a two-minute penalty kill they tend to use two or three different pairings. During the five minute kill this afternoon, they used five different pairs. This was a good coaching move by John Madden because it allowed the team to keep their energy up. /
I used every single one of the guys. I think it's about energy and when the play kept going on we kept shooting pucks. So, they did a good job. - John Madden
3 Stars
1st – Dan DeSalvo (1 shootout goal, 0a)
2nd – Eric Comrie (31 saves, 32 shots faced, TOI: 64:51)

Honorable Mention: The Manitoba Moose fans who came out in big numbers and blew the roof off of the house during the first period. Thanks for visiting our fine city of Cleveland. We would appreciate if next time you didn't take two points home with you.
Milestones
Brandon Tanev (Manitoba Moose) had the lone assist on Kosmachuk's goal in the first period. This was his 5th AHL point.
What's Next
The Monsters pack up their bags and head on a seven game road trip. They start the trip off with an 11:30 am est game against the Rockford IceHogs on Wednesday, February 15th.
These games coming up will be big ones for us. Those seven games in a row will tell us where we are in the standings at the end of the month. - John Madden
