Recap : Glass Powers IceHogs to Defeat Monsters

The first and only goal of the night came right at the three-minute mark from the IceHogs. Evan Mosey came out of nowhere and shot the puck past the stick of Anton Forsberg.

Don’t let the lack of scoring during last night’s game fool you. There were a lot of positives for the Monsters after the first goal. Unfortunately, Jeff Glass did not live up to his last name and played like a brick wall instead of a window pane.

The Monsters went 4-for-4 on the penalty kill. While on the kill, every single player stepped up to the plate. There were no passengers during the penalty kills. GDuring the second and third period, the Monsters scooped up rebound after rebound in an attempt to convert just one into a goal. Glass was just too good last night. He laid everything out there for the world to see. Hopefully, the Monsters coaches took note of what Glass brought to the table so they can figure out where his weaknesses might be.

The most impressive moment of the night happened in the final 2:24 minutes of the game. Madden made the ballsy decision to pull Forsberg and sit him for the final minutes of the game. While the Monsters were unable to score in those final 2:24 minutes, the IceHogs did not get anywhere near the empty net. Madden’s faith in the Monsters proved the guys are starting to gel and don’t need to depend on their goalie to win games.

In my opinion, I think the season is about to take a turn in the right direction.

The Monsters next game is Friday at 7pm in Cleveland against the IceHogs.
