Metro Update – 10/13/14

Down the stretch last spring, we started taking daily looks at how the Metro and the playoffs were shaping up. While it’s obviously way too early to look at the latter, we can definitely start looking at the former each Monday, just to see how things are going. So, check back each Monday morning for a quick Metro update as the season progresses!

Metropolitan Division Standings – Monday, October 13, 2014

Team GP W L OT PTS ROW Diff Last 10 Streak
New Jersey 2 2 0 0 4 2 +6 2-0-0 Won 2
Columbus 2 2 0 0 4 2 +5 2-0-0 Won 2
Pittsburgh 2 2 0 0 4 2 +5 2-0-0 Won 2
NY Islanders 2 2 0 0 4 2 +3 2-0-0 Won 2
Washington 2 1 0 1 3 1 +3 1-0-1 Won 1
NY Rangers 3 1 2 0 2 1 -5 1-2-0 Lost 2
Philadelphia 3 0 2 1 1 0 -4 0-2-1 OT 1
Carolina 2 0 2 0 0 0 -3 0-2-0 Lost 2

Four teams are off to solid starts, including the new look Islanders as well as the Devils and Penguins. Not surprising to see the Hurricanes down there at the bottom, and I personally am not surprised to see the Flyers struggling to get going. The Rangers are fighting some injuries, but the home opener loss to Toronto is not a good sign. Pittsburgh is off to their normal start, with 11 goals in two wins. Equally impressive, though, is the Devils, also with 11 goals in two wins.

Again, it’s early, but it’s never too early…
