Kekalainen named Assistant GM of Finland

The 2014 Sochi Olympics are a few short months away, and Finnish General Manager Jari Kurri has chosen Columbus GM Jarmo Kekalainen to be his right-hand man, as noted in this (Finnish) article.

Jarmo will have a very good handle on the Finns currently playing in North America, and will be able to provide valuable insight during the construction of Team Finland, who are looking to improve on their bronze medal finish in 2010.

The Jackets will be well represented in Sochi, where in addition to Jarmo, head coach Todd Richards will be an assistant coach for Team USA, and players such as Marian Gaborik (Slovakia), Sergei Bobrovsky (Russia), Fedor Tyutin (Russia), Nikita Nikitin (Russia), Artem Anisimov (Russia), Jack Johnson (USA) and Brandon Dubinsky (USA) have a good chance of wearing their nation’s colors.

Stick-tap to Laura Vilppo for the article.
