Quick Takes: Jackets Rout Islanders

After a slow start to the game, the Jackets found their gear and ended up cruising to a 6-2 victory over the Islanders.

The Islanders opened the scoring with a strange one, with the puck getting deflected high in the air toward Bob, who misplayed the puck as it dropped on to his pads.

The Jackets weren’t fazed, tying the score later in the period off the stick of Jack Johnson. His first goal of the year, Jack fired an absolute bomb from the point to make it 1-1.

The second period was the epitome of back-and-forth hockey, with the teams trading chances and goals. The Jackets made it 2-1 with a Cam Atkinson breakaway goal after a sweet pass from Johnson to spring him, while the Isles tied it up with a John Tavares rebound goal.

The Jackets really turned it on in the final frame, with Josh Anderson putting his team up for good with a slapper from the hash marks off a Nick Leddy turnover.

The Jackets fired three more goals past Islanders starter Jaroslav Halak:

Brandon Saad made it 4-2 with a ripper from Oliver Bjorkstrand.

Lukas Sedlak, after getting his first NHL goal last night, potted another one to make the score 5-2.

Seth Jones completed the scoring with a blast from the point.

Final score: 6-2 Jackets.
