Today marked the point in offseason where teams could give qualifying offers to their restricted free agents.
The Columbus Blue Jackets gave offer sheets to 11 of their RFAs.
Sonny Milano, Eric Robinson, Justin Scott, Ryan MacInnis, and Lukas Sedlak were the forwards who received offers.
Sedlak’s offer is an offer for his rights while playing in the KHL.
It’s clear the Jackets are quite comfortable with the defensive depth they have in the organization. All of the defensive RFAs were given offers. Those players are Adam Clendening, Scott Harrington, Ryan Murray, Doyle Somerby, and Zach Werenski.
Netminder Joonas Korpisalo was also given a qualifying offer.
Of those given offer sheets, Eric Robinson accepted their offers and signed a contract with the Blue Jackets. Robinson signed a one-year, two-way deal with the organization which will allow him to retain RFA status next summer.
Clendening signed a two-year contract extension with the club. The first year of the contract, 2019-20, is a two-way. While, the second year of the contract is a NHL deal.
As far as we know, Sam Vigneault was the lone RFA left out of the offer sheet frenzy.
At this point, it’s unclear if #CBJ plan to extend a qualifying offer to RFA C Sam Vigneault. All of the other RFAs have received QOs by now.
