Game #8 Preview: A chance for redemption against the Panthers

Florida Panthers (3-0-0, 6 points, 5th Central)
@
Columbus Blue Jackets (2-2-3, 7 points, 2nd Central)

I don’t even want to talk about the other night – if you missed it or are lucky enough to live under a rock where Blue Jackets news doesn’t penetrate, here’s my recap. If I had to sum it up in one sentence, the Blue Jackets blew what could have been a handy win, due in large part to their inability to make use of six (six!!!) power plays.

Today is a new day! It’s not worth dwelling on Tuesday, especially when an exciting thing is happening tonight – Jack Roslovic is making his CBJ debut!

That being said…

Player to Watch

Jack Roslovic

Roslovic, alongside Boone Jenner and Cam Atkinson, will be perfectly primed for a good game – Jenner has five points in seven games, and Cam is fresh off his first goal of the season against Sergei Bobrovsky on Tuesday.

This is an exciting homecoming for Roslovic, who has played all 180 of his career NHL games with the Winnipeg Jets – but he is a product of Columbus, Ohio! How fun. Also, fun fact, his birthday is tomorrow!

Anyways, I’m excited to see if his presence injects a change of pace in the Jackets – fingers crossed for yes, and hopefully Patrik Laine’s appearance in the next games will only help that. I mean, the power play can’t get worse, can it? (That was not a challenge).

Jackets Notes

Nothing new to report since last game – John Tortorella admitted the team had a bad practice prior to Tuesday’s game, which isn’t an encouraging admission.

The Other Bench

Patric Hornqvist was the thorn in the Jackets’ side the other night; hammering the final nail in the coffin with his shootout goal after scoring the regulation goal with 2.5 second remaining to send them into OT. The Jackets need to control him, as well as Anthony Duclair, who had two assists on Tuesday.
