The Columbus Blue Jackets are over .500 for the first time since the 2021-22 season! The team has a chance to keep it rolling and continue their surprisingly strong start. They welcome the Anaheim Ducks to town, who have just two points out of the gate to start the season. The Ducks, who selected Leo Carlsson ahead of Adam Fantilli at 2nd overall in last summer’s NHL Entry Draft, will be bringing the big Swedish rookie with them to Columbus tonight.

Tonight’s game is an early start at 6:30 PM ET to accommodate the NHL’s Frozen Frenzy where all 16 teams play today, so make sure you’re aware of that if you’re heading to Nationwide Arena tonight.

The Jackets did make one roster move on Monday, as they put Patrik Laine on Injured Reserve retroactive to October 20 and recalled Dmitry Voronkov from the Cleveland Monsters.

Player to Watch

Adam Fantilli

Sure, we’re highlighting him again for the second time in six games, but he just scored his first NHL goal, what can you expect? Additionally, the NHL announced NHL EDGE yesterday, data from puck and player tracking thus far this season. It turns out Adam Fantilli’s skating ability is elite early in his rookie season thus far:

Jackets Notes

Voronkov, called up from Cleveland, is 0-1-1 with 2 PIM and four shots on goal in four games with the Monsters to open his season … Sean Kuraly and Spencer Martin both missed practice on Monday with what head coach Pascal Vincent called “maintenance days” … Yegor Chinakhov did practice on Monday … Prospect Gavin Brindley scored his fourth goal of the season for Michigan over the weekend

The Opposing Bench

Tonight is the first of a four game roadtrip for the Ducks … Leo Carlsson, who scored a goal in his NHL debut, did not play Saturday at home against the Boston Bruins but is expected to be on the ice tonight … Despite their poor start to the season, the Ducks are top ten in the NHL in expected goals … Trevor Zegras has just one point thus far this season, while Jamie Drysdale has missed three games with injury and has just two points
