Game #4 Preview: Columbus Blue Jackets look to build some momentum against Anaheim

Friday, October 10, 2019 – 7:00 EST

Nationwide Arena, Columbus, Ohio

TV: Fox Sports Ohio; Radio: 97.1 FM

Opponent’s Blog: Anaheim Calling

Anaheim Ducks (3-1-0, 6 pts, 2nd Pacific, 2nd West)

vs.

Columbus Blue Jackets (1-2-0, 2 pts, 7th Metro, 14th East)

Anaheim is off to a good start this season and one doesn’t have to think too deeply before making guesses as to why this is. John Gibson has given up 1 goal each game and sported a 0.970 save % going into the Ducks game with Pittsburgh last night (He gave up 2 last night, but the stats haven’t updated). This is not a new story, but the Jackets will have to figure out how to sneak a few past the Ducks netminder.

Columbus is coming in off a victory over their TV rivals, the Buffalo Sabres. Here’s the recap from that one – I find that I agree with everything the author stated. Well written.  Also, look for John Tortorella to keep mixing up the defensive pairs as he works to find the right combinations.

Player to Watch

Ryan Murray

Murray is the guy we’d all like to stay healthy. When he’s healthy, he is only behind Jones in ability. Against the Sabres, he had his pocket picked which led to a goal. However, his worst moment came when the cameras panned to a grimacing Murray being tended to by a trainer. Minor? Major? I didn’t see or hear much mention of an injury but just the camera shot makes one nervous. We’re looking for Murray to play smoothly and to, hopefully, look healthy while doing it.

Jackets Notes

Post-game hugs will apparently continue…Boone Jenner is 1 point away from 200 for his career…Rostislav Klesla’s CBJ record for career goals by defensemen (41) has three pursuers…David Savard, Zach Werenski, and Seth Jones are all within 2 goals of tying…Josh Anderson expected to miss another game

The Other Bench

Anaheim is on the back end of a B2B after playing Pittsburgh last night…3rd game in 4 nights for Anaheim…Worth mentioning again – John Gibson is very good…101 saves on 104 shots through 3 games…
