The Columbus Blue Jackets “found a way to lose” on Saturday night despite dominating the game, according to their head coach. Tonight they will have a chance to right the ship as they welcome the streaking Ottawa Senators to Nationwide Arena. The Senators have won three games in a row and are scoring goals rapidly.
The Jackets may have finally figured out their power play – the team has scored seven goals on their last 15 man advantage chances. The Union Blue will need to keep that up and find some solid goaltending to get a win tonight over a better-than-expected Senators squad.
Player to Watch
Anthony Duclair
Anthony Duclair comes into the game playing extremely well for the Senators. After being traded from Columbus, Duclair has found a home and his game in Ottawa. This season, Duclair has seen his ice time jump to 16:25 per night and he has managed to register 10-5-15 in 23 games played this season, including eight even strength goals. Duclair was never going to get these chances in Columbus, so credit to him for taking advantage of the opportunity with the Senators.
Jackets Notes
With his goal on Saturday night, Pierre-Luc Dubois became the first Blue Jacket to hit double digits in goals scored this season … The Jackets scored three power play goals on Saturday night … Seth Jones scored his first power play goal since 2018 Saturday … Zach Werenski is riding a six game point streak with three goals and eight points in his last six outings … Pierre-Luc Dubois is on a four game point streak
The Other Bench
The Senators won their third straight game of the season Saturday night, dominating the New York Rangers 4-1 … Anthony Duclair scored a power play goal in the win over the Rangers … goaltender Andres Nilsson boasts a 7-4-1 record with a 2.63 goals against average and a .928 save percentage, both better than either Columbus goaltender currently sports … former Jacket Artem Anisimov is expected to miss the game due to a groin injury … Logan Brown scored his first NHL goal in the Senators’ last outing
