Game 20 Recap: Mase is Back!

This will be short and sweet today, because Clint was busy with real life and I am on my lunch break at work. It was a very physical game last night, a 4-1 win for the Jackets. Very much like the Edmonton game, the Jackets came out with their gloves half-off, there were three fights in the first period. It looked for a minute that Mase was making his way across the red line to join in on the festiviites, but backed off. Marty Turco stepped in between Nasher and Stephane Robidas, prompting Mase to start moving.

Another awesome game by Juice, he had two more goals, one on the powerplay and a beauty shorthanded with less than a second to go in the first period. Nasher scored a garbage goal later, and Raffi-who returned from injury last ngiht- got the other marker. You just know it was killing Raffi not to be able to muck it up because of his still-healing jaw.

As the title of this post suggests, Mase was strong in his first game back since the 9-1 drubbing against Detroit. To be fair, he wasn’t very busy but nonetheless he made the saves he needed to, and the goal against was a beauty one-timer by Modano. I have never like Modano, but he can still bring the heat.

This game was the first of a five-game roadtrip, so it’s crucial to get a win against a team that has had their number for the last few years.

Clint Clark Memorial Mancrush Award: Dorsett, for looking like he got sniped out. The guy was absolutely on another planet after he got hit by James Neal. I jest a bit, but seriously hopefully he’s ok. He was an absolute warrior out there last night. Neal has a hearing at noon today.

Clint Clark Memorial Whipping Boy Award: It’s hard to find one when you have such a collective effort, but I’ll give it to Vermette, only because I didn’t notice him as much last night.

Thoughts? Let’s hear ’em.
