Blue Jackets trade Seth Jones to Chicago for Adam Boqvist and draft picks; first round draft picks swapped
Jones signs a long-term extension with the Blackhawks
Shortly before the start of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, the Columbus Blue Jackets have traded defenseman Seth Jones to the Chicago Blackhawks for a package which includes defenseman prospect Adam Boqvist.
Jones deal features him, final pick of first round tonight and a 6th to CHI for Boqvist, the 11th pick, a second-rounder and a 2022 first.

Jones will sign 8x9.5 on Wednesday
Boqvist is a 20 year old from Sweden who was the 8th overall selection in the 2018 draft. He has scored six goals and 23 points in 76 games over the last two seasons with the Blackhawks.
Jones was one of the best players as well as a team leader in his time in Columbus since being acquired from Nashville in January 2016. In 381 games in the Union Blue, he scored 50 goals and had 172 assists. His 2017-18 season saw him score career highs in goals, assists, and points (16/41/57) and finish 4th in voting for the Norris Trophy. In 31 playoff games in Columbus, he scored 20 points (5/15).
He also represented Columbus three times in the All-Star Game and was a member of Team North America in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
