2020-21 Season Review

Corson Ceulemans just wrapped up his 2021 season in the AJHL, having also played for the Canada U-18 National team. He was awarded two honors while playing for his home country of Canada – he was recognized with a U18 WJC Gold Medal, joining players like Auston Matthews and Seth Jones, who have won the same award, and he was also awarded a U18 WJC Gold Medal for Most Assists by a Defenseman. Sounds good! We’ll take it.

His scouting reports laud him for his shot accuracy and his puck handling, as well as his tight, smart defense. For a team looking to rebuild their defensive ranks, Ceulemans’ resumé fits the bill.

2021-22 Season Outlook

Ceulemans will go on to play for the Wisconsin Badgers in the 2021-22 season, which is a nice departure from the slew of players who come to the CBJ from the Michigan Wolverines. I love the Big 10 representation on this CBJ squad! It will be exciting to watch Ceulemans further develop in the American collegiate realm while the Blue Jackets get their defensive ducks in a row, and then welcome him into the mix.

Scouting Reports

Ceulemans can pinch, engage opponents, box them out, control them on the boards, and shove them away from the puck. His gap is tight through the neutral zone and he defends the front of the net well. Quick threat identification there and attaches himself to them. -EliteProspects 2021 NHL Draft Guide

Ceulemans is an excellent playmaker. He can carry the puck through the neutral zone and creates effective zone entries. On the rush, he has excellent vision and passing skills, head-manning the puck quickly and creating offence with speed. He can avoid attackers on the forecheck and move the puck up the ice. Ceulemans uses his playmaking skills to create offensive chances for teammates. He is able to protect the puck and control it at the blue line, allowing teammates to get open. Ceulemans good lateral movement allows him to move laterally opening up passing and shooting lanes. -Ben Kerr, Last Word On Sports
