Breaking down the Cleveland Monsters 2019-20 schedule

After what felt like a year long wait, the complete Cleveland Monsters 2019-20 season schedule dropped today. You can see the full schedule here.

The Monsters will kick off their 13th season on the road in Laval against the Rocket on October 4th (7:30 pm) and 5th (3:00 pm). They come home to the newly renovated Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse the next weekend where they take on the Syracuse Crunch in a back-to-back home stand on Friday, October 11th and Saturday, October 12th. Both games start at 7:00 pm

Like last season nine home games are in the middle of the week. However, unlike last season, there are no back-to-back home games in the middle of the week.

The Monsters will play three back-to-back-to-backs. All of which are away. They will be traveling after all but one of these games.

During the holidays, the arena is usually booked with a plethora of games. This season is quite different.

The Monsters are playing in Charlotte on November 26th and 27th. They don’t return to The Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse until the Saturday after Thanksgiving at 7pm (vs Rochester Americans).

December is really where fans will feel the difference in scheduling. There are only four home games in December (14th, 15th, 28th, 30th). The annual Teddy Bear Toss will likely be on December 14th as it is the only Saturday home game before Christmas. The Monsters have a full week off at Christmas time (22nd-27th). On New Years Ever, the Monsters will be battling it out with the Marlies in Toronto at 3:00 pm. So, if you’re looking for a destination trip to ring in the New Year, I have the perfect place for you to go.

The Monsters are even out of town on Valentine’s Day (at Grand Rapids) and don’t play on St. Patrick’s Day.

The longest stretch of home games is nine games over the course of 20 days (January 22nd – February 11th.) February also holds the longest roadtrip of the season, February 14th to February 26th (six games).

April 5th is the last home game of the regular season against the Marlies at 1pm. The final games of the regular season will be played on the road in Utica (April 10th) and Hershey (11th)

The Cleveland Browns and Monsters have zero conflicting times for games this season. Thank you Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr for helping the Browns move out of that 1 pm slot more often.

Note: the schedule is subject to change once the Cleveland Cavaliers schedule is released.

The Monsters will be announcing their promotional schedule and television schedule later this week.
