Boone Jenner Signs Bridge Deal

Boone Jenner has signed his contract extension.

After an uneventful trade deadline for Columbus that saw no one shipped out of town and Rene Bourque placed on waivers, the new s that Boone Jenner signed was welcome.

Jenner signed a 2 year extension, a bridge deal similar to that signed by Ryan Murray earlier this season. He will make $2.9 million this season, as well as in 2017-2018. Despite the extension, he will remain a restricted free agent at the conclusion of the term, keeping him firmly under team control moving forward.

Jenner, the 22 year old alternate captain, has been healthy and productive this season after his injury plagued 2014-15 campaign. He currently has 22-13-35 in 63 games played, with career highs in goals and points thus far this season.

This deal is team friendly, and in line with what Ryan Murray signed. It remains to be seen what deals Seth Jones and William Karlsson are offered. One thing can be said (and I should eat some crow here)- Jarmo Kekalainen is working hard behind the scenes on the cap situation.

Stay tuned, Jackets fans….
