Blue Jackets Select Vitaly Abramov in the Third Round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft

The Blue Jackets added offense in the third round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, taking Russian winger Vitaly Abramov with the 65th pick.

Abramov played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season, where he registered 38-55-93.

Abramov’s biggest knock is his size- he stands at a tiny 5’9″, 172.

Frankly, I love this pick. While he might be undersized, Abramov is skilled, creative, fast, and was rookie of the year last season in the QMJHL. Oh, and he survived a meteor strike.

Here is a link to the Cannon’s scouting profile of Abramov.

This might end up being the steal of the draft. Highly ranked in prospect pools, and the Jackets got him at 65. This is an excellent pick.

More to come on this story.
