Unfortunately, it’s tough for anyone to draw conclusions on a 6-game season, which is exactly how many 18 year-old Logan Stankoven played for the WHL during 2020-2021. Many North American players are in the same situation. However, he was still able to score 7 goals and garner 10 points in only those 6 games. His prior season was excellent as well: he scored 48 points and 29 goals in 59 games. But alas, he was only 16 years old for most of it.

The elephant in the room is his size, or lack thereof. He’s short at 5’8”, which may cause teams to overlook or underestimate him. Obviously size matters more when not compensated by skill, which doesn’t seem to be an issue for him thus far in the junior leagues. If you’re small, you must be fast and agile. You must also be very physically strong. Size may limit the effectiveness of his north-south game. Yet he’s touted as an excellent skater, feet always in motion, with incredible edges and quick changes in direction. He’s also said to have a bullet of a shot, with a fast release and clean mechanics.

By the way, who else is 5’8” and 170s? Cam Atkinson. Alex Debrincat is 5’7”, and Johnathan Marchessault and Brad Marchand are both 5’9”.

Scouting Reports

Logan Stankoven is a 5 foot 8 forward that has an undying production of offense no matter when he plays. -Thomas P. Williams, 2021 NHL Draft: Logan Stankoven is beaming with potential – Hockey Wilderness

He’s a fearless puck-carrier, always driving the inside, and never shy about setting up shop near the net-front off of the puck. He plays a north-south game and always attacks at an unrelentingly high pace. The mechanics behind his shot are so clean, exerting downward force while pushing his top hand off his body. – Elite Prospects

He is a good playmaker but his passing can be inconsistent. This is especially the case with longer passes…but it is worth noting that despite this “flaw”, his analytics for shot assist and dangerous passing completion percentages is still very strong at his current level. -There is no brigstew, only Z! 2021 NHL Draft Profile: Logan Stankoven – Pension Plan Puppets
