2020-21 Season Recap

For being such a young player, Stanislav Svozil has already proven he’s full of talent on an international stage – he’s been in the Czech Extraliga since he was 16, which makes him the youngest player EVER to play in that league. His scouting reports laud his intelligence of the game, his skating skill, and his impeccable timing on defense – essentially, he reads as if he’s already separated himself from the pack as far as being someone who is capable of performing on the NHL stage. He played 30 regular season games and 8 playoff games for HC Kometo Brno in Czech this past 2020-21 season, with a total of 3 points. He also played another 20 games for the Czech national team, with a total of 8 points. If the Jackets can turn his intelligence and awareness into a mechanism for creating offensive plays, he’ll be a true danger on the ice.

2021-22 Season Outlook

Svozil is slated to remain in the Czech Extraliga for at least the 2021-22 season to continue to develop his talents – he’s currently drafted but unsigned by the Blue Jackets. As Jarmo is known to do, he’ll keep a close eye on his European prospects as they continue to strengthen their game overseas. It’s too soon to say when we could see Svozil over on this side of the pond, but it could be as soon as 2022-23 depending on his performance this upcoming year.

Scouting Reports

He works hard to attach himself to his check, with mirroring footwork and great body-on-body positioning, driving them into the boards when the moment is right. He’s physical but always with a purpose. Good luck getting past Svozil in the neutral zone. He takes away the middle of the ice with his stick, skates with risk-mitigating footwork, and closes with aggression at just the right moments. -EliteProspects 2021 NHL Draft Guide

This was the most comprehensive and thorough highlight reel I could find – it helps if you speak French! Here is another good scouting report if you need additional Svozil details.
