Game #5 QuickCap: Columbus Blue Jackets win second game of the season at Carolina Hurricanes

The Columbus Blue Jackets traveled to Raleigh to take on the Carolina Hurricanes on the second night of a back to back as they sought to avoid falling into a 1-4 hole.

Here’s what happened.

First Period

Ryan Murray found Markus Nutivaara to open the scoring.

Unfortunately, a defensive miscue meant that Eric Haula was able to beat Joonas Korpisalo and equalize the game at one.

Second Period

Dougie Hamilton scored to give the Hurricanes the lead before Oliver Bjorkstrand answered back 17 seconds later.

Joonas Korpisalo made several big saves to keep the score tied before Pierre-Luc Dubois hit the post on the power play.

Third Period

Pierre-Luc Dubois scored the game winning goal early in the third as the Jackets managed to hold on for a 3-2 victory.
