Blue Jackets Trade Captain Nick Foligno to Toronto Maple Leafs

The Columbus Blue Jackets have made a massive trade, ending an era – the team has traded captain Nick Foligno.

Foligno has been dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the latest deadline move for the Blue Jackets.

Columbus got a 1st round pick in 2021 and a 4th round pick in 2022 for the captain.

Foligno was brought in on July 1, 2012 in a deal for Marc Methot and promptly signed a three year deal with the team. Over the next decade for the Blue Jackets, Foligno would score the winning goal for the franchise in their first ever home playoff win.

He was named the captain of the club in May 2015.

In total, Foligno played 599 games for the Blue Jackets. He scored 142 goals, notched 192 assists, racked up 466 penalty minutes, and scored 21 game winning goals for the club.

Foligno’s measure on and off the ice cannot be expressed, and he goes down as the most successful captain of the club, leading the team through its greatest stretch of on-ice success in franchise history.

And he could always come back.

Thank you for the time, cap.
