Tonight in the “A”: That’s All Folks!

The Portland Pirates ended the playoff hopes of the Springfield Falcons on Wednesday night at the Cumberland County Civic Center. The Pirates took a 2-1 victory over the Connecticut Whale, leaving them in eighth place with 79 points. The Falcons currently have 74 points, with just two games left on the schedule, the Birds have officially run out of time.

The win extends the Pirates current streak to three straight wins, while posting a 6-2-2 mark in their last 10 games. Peter Mannino earned the game’s top star, turning aside 34 of 35 Whale shots in the game.

Ironically, the Falcons will likely have the most skaters available for this final weekend of the season, than they have since the first puck dropped back in October. Will Weber should be in the lineup this weekend, along with Boone Jenner and Sean Collins. In on ATO’s, but yet to see game action are Daniel New and Trent Vogelhuber

Friday night, the Adirondack Phantoms come to The Nest for a 7:30 game. Saturday night is “Cam Atkinson Night”, when #13 will be honored before the game against the St. John’s IceCaps. Faceoff time is 7PM
