Today in the “A”: Saturday Previews

After the Falcons were defeated 5-2 in Norfolk on Friday night, here’s a quick look at the other games that had an impact on the Falcons playoff hopes.

Bridgeport 2 at Albany 5
Steve Zalewski scored his 13th and 14th goals of the season while Jeff Frazee turned aside 24 of 26 Bridgeport shots, giving the Devils the win.

Connecticut 2 at Portland 3
Ryan Duncan and Patrick O’Sullivan paced the Pirate attack as the Pirates upset the Whale.

Adirondack 3 at Providence 1
The injury plagued P-Bruins fell at home to the Phantoms in front of 8214 at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence. Michael Leighton stopped 30 of 31 Bruins shots to earn the game’s #1 Star.

Tonight, games of interest to Springfield are:

Adirondack at Albany
Both teams skated to upset wins on Friday. This should be a great game between the geographic rivals.

Worcester at Providence
The Sharks were off on Friday night, while the depleted Bruins fell at home. Look for the well rested Sharks to come out aggressively in this one.

The Falcons are in a position where some of their rivals helped them out on Friday night. Tonight, the Birds will need to dig deep and put Norfolk’s 11 game winning streak to a close on their own.
