Today in the “A”: More Movements

Let’s not underestimate the power of positive thinking as the Blue Jackets get ready to host the 8-4-3 Chicago Blackhawks tonight. Read on for today’s not-so-subliminal message.

Wednesday was an eventful day for player movement.

First, goaltender and heir apparent to Steve Mason, Mark Dekanich was activated after a lengthy bout with a high ankle sprain.

Dex was activated and sent to the Falcons with the intention of starting Friday night’s home game against the Portland Pirates.

There have been some mildly conflicting reports that Dekanich will be in Friday and out Saturday to be on the bench when the Jackets host the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night at Nationwide. The other is that Dex will be back between the pipes for the Falcons on Saturday night when they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Whichever scenario plays out, its great news that Dekanich is ready to play again. Whether he’s in Springfield or Columbus, it’s another sign that the overall health of the Blue Jackets is improving. Success on the ice can’t be far behind…

Another inbound on Wednesday was the return of Cam Atkinson.

Atkinson’s return was likely hastened by the trade that brought Mark Letestu to Columbus. Also, the imminent return of Jeff Carter to the Jackets lineup. Success on the ice can’t be far behind…

Jared Boll will also be returning to the lineup soon, likely necessitating further transactions with the Falcons.

Early speculation was Alexandre Giroux was going to be plugged into Atkinson’s spot on Springfield’s first line. Coach Rob Riley now has an interesting decision to make as to what that top line will look like tomorrow night.

We’ll know soon enough, and don’t forget:

Success on the ice can’t be far behind!
