Elsewhere around the AHL, Rockford IceHogs goalie Carter Hutton was named the AHL Player of the Week. It’s the second time in seven weeks for Hutton to be so honored. After playing for the Worcester Sharks last season, Hutton signed as a free agent with the Chicago Blackhawks organization.
Speaking of the Sharks, they will be hosting the Bridgeport Sound Tigers tonight at 7PM. The Sharks are holding onto the eighth playoff spot in the East, with a group of five teams all within three points of them. Following the Sharks in the standings are: Manchester (61 pts), Portland (60 pts), Adirondack (59), Springfield (59) and Providence (58).
