Today in the “A”: Falcons Return to the Ice

When the Springfield Falcons last took to the ice, they earned a well deserved two points in a 2-1 win over the Albany Devils last Sunday in Springfield.

There have been no Falcons games since then, although in the middle was a special “Bowling with the Falcons” night. More on that later today.

There were some transactions that took place yesterday. Cody Bass was returned to Springfield by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Also, defenseman Darcy Campbell returned from the Chicago Express on a PTO. Campbell’s addition will likely be to fill Cody Goloubef’s spot. Goloubef was injured one week ago against the Connecticut Whale and it appears that he may be out of the lineup for some time.

There was some good news for the Falcons from Friday night around the AHL. Divisional rivals from the Northeast Division of the AHL went a combined 0-3 on the night.

In those games, Portland topped Adirondack 2-1. The Hershey Bears beat the Connecticut Whale 5-3 in Hartford while the Rochester Americans shut out the Albany Devils 3-0.

Tonight the Falcons host the Manchester Monarchs at 7PM. Tomorrow, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers come in for a 3PM game. Boston Bruins enforcer, Shawn Thornton will be on hand at Sunday’s game, signing autographs from 3-4PM.
