The New Game Ops – Pt. 2

Again, a huge thank you to Karen Davis with the Blue Jackets, as she was good enough to answer a few follow up questions on the changes to Game Ops at Nationwide Arena!

First off, with the change of the goal song to “No Way but the Hard Way”, I had to ask who chose the new song. The answer? Rick Nash! The captain apparently has a taste for Aussie metal. Nice.

Another question I had to ask was why the team made the decision not to put their anniversary logo at center ice, as teams like Carolina, San Jose, Minnesota, and Atlanta did. Karen’s answer surprised me a bit, but it made sense:

There was a discussion and a debate about having the 10th season logo at center ice. After evaluating the design and how it would look at center ice, it was decided to keep the primary mark there and use the 10th season logo in a wide variety of other applications.

Wouldn’t you love to get your hands on a print of that concept art?

Since the team’s Civil War theme is one of the most unique identities in the NHL, I had to ask if there were plans to keep expanding on that theme. The answer I received was an emphatic YES!, with advice to  stay tuned…sounds like they have a few more surprises in store for us there.

Last, and most importantly, I asked about fan feedback – in my discussions with member’s of the team’s front office this year, they’ve been strongly in favor of making changes according to fan feedback, and listening to what the fans want. So, I had to ask what the best way to let the team know what we feel about the many additions to the arena experience was.

The best way to let the team know what you feel is to use the “Feedback” section of the Bluejackets.com web site, or to click on the “feedback form” link on each page inside the team’s site, even if you want to let them know about something that isn’t mentioned on the web page (such as the live music, or the new goal song). The emails will be forwarded to the appropriate department and they will do their best to respond.

So, there you have it. Lots of exciting changes already, and more to come in the near future. If you haven’t been able to attend a game yet, take the time to get down to Nationwide and let the team know what you think!
