The Cannon Top 25 Under 25 – #15 Lukas Sedlak

Lukas Sedlak, former 6th round draft pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets, plays a strong defensive game from the center position. He played as the Cleveland Monster’s top defensive center last season, registering 14-4-18 in 54 games, along with 27 PIM. In the playoffs, he scored nearly a point per game en route to the Monsters winning the Calder Cup.

Sedlak has never been one to light the lamp. His value comes from his strong two way play. He has yet to be called up to Columbus in three pro seasons, and was brought back on just a one year deal for the 2016-17 season. He is a skilled bottom six forward, and could one day fill a role for the big club (especially once Gregory Campbell is no longer a member of the club).

Outlook for 2016-17

Sedlak will be back with the Monsters this season. The pressure will be on him to up his offensive game and light the lamp more this year. His future with the club will be determined by him separating himself from the pack of bottom six prospects the club has and demonstrating real value to the big club.
