The Cannon has lost one of its own

Jeff Little was an inspiration to me. He was without a doubt my favorite Blue Jackets blogger, his work was always so interesting and well-written. I always wished that he could join me here, if for no other reason than I could call him a colleague and true teammate.

The Cannon was going through a bit of a tumultuous stretch a few years back and we publicly asked our community for help in writing a game recap. Jeff emailed me almost right away to offer to pinch-hit, and I accepted with a huge smile on my face. Shortly after that Jeff joined our writing team full time, and he did more than just contribute quality content for our readers – he overnight gave us legitimacy as a site, improved our quality and became a mentor for us all.

Yesterday, with his Blue Jackets in first place, Jeff passed away.

Jeff was a strong presence, an intelligent and articulate man who meant so very much to so many people.

On behalf of the The Cannon community, the CBJ community and all the hockey fans that Jeff’s work has touched, I want to wish his family and friends our most sincere condolences, and if there’s anything any of us can do, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Jeff – keep your stick on the ice my friend, and thank you so much for everything.

UPDATE: There will be a Celebration of Life at Peace Lutheran Church at 455 Clark State Road in Gahanna on January 21st, at 11:00am. The family is asking attendees to wear hockey jerseys, Hawaiian Shirts, or any loud shirt in his memory.
