STEVE MASON
Q) Hi Steve, tell us a little about yourself.
A) I was born in Oakville, Ontario on May 29, 1988. I am a goaltender, drafted by the Blue Jackets 69th overall in 2006 from the London Knights of the OHL.
Q) Tell us about some intangibles you could bring to the Blue Jackets.
A) I am a hybrid goaltender with the durability to be a starter. Since joining the professional ranks I have missed very few games due to injury. I have solid positioning and fundamentals, and I fill a large portion of the net.
Q) What areas of your game do you think you can improve on?
A) Consistency. I sometimes get rattled if I let in a bad goal, or an early goal. I need to maintain my focus for the entire game, and shake off bad or early goals.
Q) Can you give us some examples of your hockey accomplishments?
A) In 2008 I won a gold medal as Team Canada’s goaltender at the World Junior tournament. In 2009 I was nominated for the Vezina trophy as the league’s top goaltender, and I was the recipient of the Calder trophy as the league’s top rookie.
