Jackets Links:

Going to the game Friday night? If you are, you’ll get a chance to meet Bruce Gardiner. Does that name sound familiar? For the youngsters out there, Gardiner was the man who started it all. He scored the first goal in franchise history. Meet him after the game for photos and autographs!.

Ethan Moreau is already proving his worth to the Columbus faithful. I liked picking him up in the offseason, hoping he could restore some confidence and leadership in the locker room. If he can lead by scoring, I’m ok with that too.

Other League News:

– Take a look at the standings through the first weekend of the season. See anything weird? Sure its still really, really early but Toronto, Carolina, and Edmonton all off to 2-0 starts. Toronto didn’t win its second game of last season until November 6th!

Tyler Seguin scores his first career goal over the weekend.

What they said – Recaps from the Sharks point of view. Game one. Game Two.

Big, bad, Zdeno Chara has signed a 7-year extension to keep him in Boston through 2017-18.

Derek Stepan becomes only the 4th rookie in league history to net a hat trick in his NHL debut. Impressive. Congrats, kid.

-The Blackhawks raised a banner on Friday, but Detroit ruined the party.

– Thrashers goalie Ondrej Pavelec has been released from the hospital. After a scary incident that saw Pavelec colapse on the ice, for seemingly no reason, all tests came back normal and he’s been placed on IR. Civil_war_cannon_medium
