Shrapnel – 8/10/11

Welcome back, or if it’s your first time here, good morning! For a Wednesday, things aren’t looking half bad.

The biggest news yesterday came from the NHL itself, as they released a full list of the rules changes to be tested at their now annual R&D camp next week. Matt over at PHT has a list of the 5 most interesting ideas, and how they could impact the current NHL game, while Joe feels they missed a trick. PPP takes their own look, and wants to know what you might propose, if you had a chance. Personally, hybrid icing is my no-brainer.

Congrats to Jackets’ prospect T.J. Tynan, who made the final roster for the Team USA WJC evaluation camp. Western College Hockey has more on tournament season, and what Tynan and the rest of the Team USA campers can expect this summer.

Over at Puck The Media, Steve Lepore has the complete pre-season schedule. These games are unlikely to be televised, but there’s a pretty decent chance you’ll be able to find them on some form of radio.

Thanks to Down Goes Brown, we’ve got a look at the buyout form Scott Howson had to fill out last month.

Yesterday, 23 years ago, Wayne Gretzky was traded. What effect did that have on the LA Hockey scene today?

Justin Bourne talks about what hockey players are really like.

Did you hear that Cannonfest just got a little more awesome?

The Jets are having some issues coming to terns on a new deal with Zach Bogosian.

LTL looks at how J.P. Mac is turning up the heat on the arena issue – and he approves.

Finally, kind of an odd choice for Puck Daddy’s guilty pleasures series – WWE wrestler (and Cleveland native!) Dolph Ziggler.
