Shrapnel – 12/7/11

The Jackets pull off the shootout win in Montreal? Barkeep! Smoked meat and poutine for all my friends!

We have recaps of the victory from Eric Smith, LTL, Puck-Rakers, and DBJ

Not surprisingly, we also have more thoughts on realignment both as it affects Columbus and the NHL. Arace thinks Columbus is a winner in the new arrangement, and Portzline sees the road less weary.

Over at TMM, Jeff is pleased at the new format, but LTL thinks there are more important issues to address, while the Coach over at CTF thinks the Jackets may have an easier road to the postseason than most expect.

Icethetics is pretty pleased with the re-alighnment (except for being a Lightning fan), Harrison over at Puck Daddy thinks it says a lot about the West, and they try to name the new conferences.

Puck-Rakers has a few more GM meeting nuggets, and Dan Wagner (no relation!) shares his thoughts at Backhand Shelf.

In non-realignment matters, CTF talks about the problems with R.J. Umberger, while Derick Brassard was unhappy about missing a game in front of his home crowd.

At Puck Daddy, it looks like the All Star Game Jerseys are being recycled (lame!), Tyler Seguin was scratched due to failing to eat his wheaties, Ryan Lambert destroyed John Steigerwald on the radio, and the NHL suspended Jorin Tootoo for two games, including tomorrow’s matchup against the Jackets. Which is….still pretty damn weak sauce compared to the suspension given to Wiz.
