Shrapnel – 12/21/11

With the Jackets off until tomorrow night, the team continues to work on their new lines, splitting up Rick Nash and Jeff Carter. Puck Rakers also has coverage from practice, and Rob Mixer had a few quotes from Scott Arniel and Derick Brassard.

Interestingly, Arniel mentions the play of Mark Letestu, who was also interviewed by the Dispatch, and the team is expecting to have Curtis Sanford and James Wisniewski back in practice today.

Flyers fans received some good news: Claude Giroux was cleared for contact and could play tonight. Unfortunately, last night’s action also saw several more controversial hits that are likely to bring supplemental discipline.

Over at Carry The Flag, Dan discusses Howson’s paitence. Andy at CBJ blog looks at Scott Arniel’s elasticity and shares more details for a game watching night early next month.

Over at SBNation, Bruce takes a look at all the coaching changes, and what they mean.

At Dark Blue Jacket, Gallos looks for a sea change while Rob watched last night’s Capitals / Predators game and sees some ways to beat Nashville.

Mr. Martini looks at some controversial talk from Peter Forsberg, and Crimespree Hockey offers another dose of holiday cheer.

At Backhand Shelf, either Jason LaBarbera is insanely lucky or Stephen Weiss is cursed, Puck Daddy looks at the NHL’s best road scorers, and ranks the biggest trades of 2011.
