Shrapnel – 11/22/11

What’s that? A winning streak? How fantastic is that?

For most of the NHL, though, last night was the Sidney Crosby Show, and not without reason – he scored on his second shift of the game en route to a two goal, two assist performance. The league’s marquee player is back, and serving notice, but PHT is right that we need to really see how he follows it up tomorrow. Puck Daddy had feature coverage of Crosby’s return, and even Alex Ovechkin simply had to say “Good for him.” (Gee, there’s a rivalry that it’d be nice to see fired up…)

Closer to home, there are a lot of happy Jackets fans after the 4-1 victory over Calgary last night, and we’ve got our recap, Blue Jackets Country, PHT, Puck-Rakers, DBJ, Martini Hockey, and the post-game wrapup at Bluejackets.com

In another piece of “what took you so long?” news, the Flyers have officially unveiled their Winter Classic jerseys. Rangers? You’re on notice. Personally, I don’t think they look too bad, but the reaction over at Broad Street Hockey is pretty lukewarm.

Over at Heart of a Jacket, Alison encourages you to get out for Pink at The Rink next Friday at the Ice Haus.

Puck Daddy does a special Ovechkin edition t-shirt foul while wondering if the Canucks need to get punished for some bench door shenanigans.

Jackets blogger (and generally awesome guy) Greg May popped up in two places at the same time yesterday thanks to the magic of the interwebs – in addition to his own Mental Monday he’s now also appearing as part of the Dark Blue Jacket team. Congrats, Greg!

In Dallas, the Stars finally have a new owner, and they repaid his arrival with an impressive 4-1 win over the Oilers.

At Crimespree Hockey, they’re looking at the results from Curtis Sanford and what a difference confidence in the goaltender makes.

In other Winter Classic news, rink preparations have begun at Citizens Bank Park.

LTL has an impressive photoblog of the Nashville trip, while Jeff considered some of yesterday’s pre-game shenanigans.

Have a great day!
